Top Korean Sleeping Masks to Solve Your Skin Issues
Read this Sleeping Masks 101 guide and be on your way to beautiful skin while catching the zzzz’s.
Sleeping mask, also called sleeping pack or sleeping mask packs (how’s that for confusing?), is a moisturizing product that’s meant to create an extra hydrating layer that gives your skin a moisture boost through the night. It is a common feature in Korean Beauty routines. Most Korean sleeping packs contain occlusive agents, which are ingredients that form a thin film on your skin, thereby acting as a shield and prevent water loss through the surface of the skin. For this reason, sleeping packs are meant to be applied as the last step of your night skincare routine.
Why use a sleeping mask?
A sleeping mask may work for people who have oily skin and don’t like to use night creams. Night creams are usually a heavier moisturizer containing oil, silicone, wax, and/or petroleum ingredients acting as the occlusive. If you have oily skin and find night creams too greasy, you may want to try a sleeping pack.
Sleeping masks work wonderfully in dry climates or during the winter, when your skin gets dehydrated at a faster rate than usual.
Pro-tip: If you have dehydrated skin, you may want to try applying toner with the 7 skin method before using a sleeping mask for an extra hydration boost.
Some Korean sleeping masks are more than just moisturizers. The ones formulated with specific ingredients can help you target particular skin problems, such as acne, wrinkles, or hyperpigmentation. You can supercharge your night routine by using these specialized sleeping packs after using a toner and serum to double the benefits.
How to use a sleeping mask
After you have finished with your nightly skin care routine (cleansing, toning, moisturizing), massage the sleeping mask cream onto your face and gently pat your skin to help with better absorption.
